BASIC SCAFFOLD INSPECTION COURSE

OVERVIEW:
This course will further develop your understanding of scaffolding components, forms of construction and the inspection procedures for access scaffolds and how to comply with current legislation and Codes of Practice.

OBJECTIVE:

To give the attendees the knowledge to enable them to understand how to inspect scaffolding structures according to Work at Height Regulations.

ATTENDEES:

This scaffold inspection course is designed for those who are responsible for inspecting scaffolds, and completing reports in accordance to Work at Height Regulations 2005.

CERTIFICATION:

Successful participants of this scaffold inspection course will receive a “Scaffold Inspector Certificate” from Scaffold Training Institute Texas, U.S.A, with Scaffold Inspector card.
Validity of Certificate:
Certificate is valid for 5 years
Duration: 3 days

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
A participant is expected to have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, which would have come from time spent in the field. Other requirements include:
 Basic scaffold certificate with at least 6 months field experience.
 Advance level scaffold certificate with at least 1 year field experience.
 You must have a good understanding of spoken and written English
 Valid medical certificate

HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: 
Participant must hold at least one of the following:
 NEBOSH (Construction certificate)
 IOSH

QUALIFICATION OF TRAINERS:
 C.I.S.R.S (Advance inspector certificate)
 C.I.S.R.S (Basic inspector certificate)

 OSHA Regulation
 Overview of Preventing Falls in Scaffolding Operations
 International Standards (British, European, US & Local)
 Frame Scaffolding
 System scaffolding
 Tube, fittings & boards
 Safe ladder access and egress
 Scaffold working methods
 Bracing and tying scaffolds
 Public protection
 Mobile, static and loading towers
 Birdcage scaffolds
 Beams and bridging beams
 Risk assessment/Risk management in scaffolding

PRACTICAL SESSION: 

 How to carry out a scaffolding inspection (General requirements)
 Scaffold tagging systems
 Scaffold inspection exercise
 Scaffold Inspection Reports
 Knowledge test and assessment.

PPE:
Hard hats, Coverall, Safety boot. Safety Harness MUST be brought together with Ratchets, Spirit Levels, Measuring Tape, Hand Gloves and Eye Goggle. Complete PPE MUST be worn at all times during practical session. Shorts are not acceptable.
